All staff - except Tech Admins (who do not have access to student check-in data) - can recommend a resource (also called a Single Session Intervention or SSI) to support students’ wellbeing.
- Log in to your Closegap staff account here.
- Click '
Resources' from the navigation menu on the left-hand side of the page to see Closegap's library of resources.
-
Click 'MAKE A RECOMMENDATION' in the upper right-hand corner.
- Tip: You can also recommend a resource directly from a student’s check-in summary card on the Monitoring page. Clicking “Recommend a resource” takes you directly to the resource selection step below.
-
To select a student, click into the 'Search for a student...' box and type the student's name. Click or hit enter to select a student.
- To recommend the same resource to multiple students, continue searching and selecting additional names.
-
To select a resource, you can:
- Search by title
- Filter by grade-level
- Filter by need addresses
- Or simply click on a resource in the library
- Review your selected students and the resource you're assigning them in the Summary on the right-hand side of the page.
-
Optional, but highly recommended: Click into 'Include a message' to share a brief personal note explaining why you are recommending this particular SSI.
- Example: "I noticed you mentioned struggling with ____. This activity offers a few tools for managing ____ when things feel hard."
Adding a note helps students feel seen and supported, and increases the likelihood that they’ll engage with the resource.
- Click 'Submit'
- You'll see a green banner at the top of your screen confirming the number of students who you just created a resource assignment for.
FAQ
What are resources?
Resources are short, self-guided activities that help students reflect on their emotions, build skills, and develop strategies for challenges. Resources include Single Session Interventions (SSIs), which are designed to be quick activities a student completes once, or more, and are related to specific student needs.
How can resources support student wellbeing?
Resources support student wellbeing by helping students process emotions, practice new skills, and build confidence in handling real challenges. Each activity teaches a specific coping skill or strategy, and helps students make a plan for using it in real life.
Can I preview a resource before recommending it?
Yes - seeing what students will see is a best practice before recommending a resource to students (see How-To Preview a Resource).
How do students access and complete recommended resources?
Students log in to their Closegap account and click 'For You' on the left-hand side of the page. At the top of this page, they’ll see a section called Recommended by your school, which lists any resources an educator has suggested for them, along with the educator’s name.
To complete a resource, students simply click on it, read the description and any note from their educator, then click 'Start' to begin the activity (see this student guide on How-To Complete a Recommended Resource).
How will I know when a student completes a resource that I recommended?
You'll see a notification in Closegap on the purple navigation bar at the top of the screen. You can click the notification alert to see additional details.
What will I see when a student completes a resource?
Educators who recommend a resource to students are notified when students complete an activity that they recommended.
Are crisis alerts built in?
Yes - Closegap will notify your school in the event of a crisis alert indicating harm to self or others.
